Basset Hound the Droopy Ear Dog

I have for you here some quotes from Basset Hound owners and maybe some tips. First off, they are one of the best dogs available for a family to love and it is a very calm and companionable breed, but they are often very stubborn. Let's not forget that they belong to the hound group and are used today for hunting and as companions. Last be not least, this is one of the best dogs available for a family to love.

If big sad eyes makes you melt, you may run out and buy yourself a Basset Hound pup before you can stop yourself from doing it. These dogs have eyeballs that would melt even the most frigid heart and soul that's not all, a loving spirit too.

The treasured Basset Hound has a exquisite act of smelling &  can track down scents more or less as well as its ancestor, the Bloodhound. In point of fact, this member of the American Kennel Club's hound group is in all probability to become so possessed with a smell that he will ignore commands to heel, stay or come. This unique dogs were developed to be able to track scents   through little places where the big scent hounds could not get into.

The alluring Basset Hound weighs practically 60 pounds & stands in-between 18" & 20". Is a Basset Hound Right for You? These   dogs can come in any AKC accepted hound dog coloring, altho a dog with a white base coating with black and brown patches is most common. Basset Hounds have droopy, long ears which almost touch the ground when the breed is standing up. The canines' broad chest, undershot jaw and petite legs mix, to give him a comic & cumbersome demeanor, but this hound can actually move about extremely gracefully.

The treasured Basset Hound are ideal apartment dogs, as long as nearby neighbors don't mind their downhearted vocalizations. These dogs would rather not do any exercise unless they are tailing a smell, but you have to give them daily exercise to stay healthy. To keep your Basset pooch in looking good, you'll spend some time walking with him, even if you have a fenced yard.

If you are looking for a pet who does well with toddlers or other pets, then a Basset Hound is a great choice! These dogs relish people & will do anything to be with them. Let's that I bet more than a few Basset Hounds has put up with the indignity of dressing up in frilly little dresses just so he can spend time with the children he loves.

Although Basset Hounds are loving & devoted pets, they do have a stubborn streak. A few people inaccuracy view this uncooperatives for an aptitude problem & think that their Basset does not have the brains to learn anything. However, if you look closely at your Basset as he is disobeying, you may just catch a naughty twinkle in his big, sad eyes. Your Basset is more apt to obey commands that mean he is spending time with you than commands that don't interest him, such as the stay command. Since these dogs are a bit difficult to train, you may want to consider taking your puppy to obedience classes to get professional training help. These classes can sometimes be found at your local park dist.

The Basset Hound loves to eat. Since this chow hound behavior & their disinterest in exercise is a bad combination, you will need to keep a close eye on your Basset' s food consumption. If your Basset Hound starts to put on some extra pounds, ask your vet to suggest a food that will help him lose of his weight.

Bassets do not require that much grooming. Brush through his hair once a week should be enough to remove dirt and loose hair. You may also need to check his ears to be sure he doesn't develop any problems, since the air may not circulate well in such droopy ears. In fact, ear infections are one of the main health problems with this breed. Other common health problems are spinal related injuries and eye diseases.

If you want a dog whose sole purpose is to please his owners, then The Basset Hound may be the perfect choice for you and your family.
